Bandra Platform 8 Advances as Garib Nagar Rehabilitation Nears Completion

Western Railway plans to add a new platform at Bandra station.

It will be called Platform 8 and will be on the station’s eastern side.

The platform is part of a project to build a sixth railway line between Mumbai Central and Borivali.

Before construction can begin at the site, residents affected by the project need to be relocated.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has relocated 94 of about 100 eligible occupants from Garib Nagar.

The remaining cases are still being handled.

After relocation is finished, structures at the site will be removed.

Western Railway aims to finish two sections of the sixth line by 2029.
