Tropical Storm Bertha forms in Gulf of Mexico

Tropical Storm Bertha has formed in the Gulf of Mexico, south of the Florida Panhandle.

It is moving slowly towards the northern Gulf Coast, bringing heavy rainfall, strong winds, and potential storm surges.

Forecasters warn of up to 8 inches of rain and storm surges of up to 4 feet, which could cause flash flooding and pose a threat to life.

A tropical storm watch and storm surge watch have been issued for parts of the Gulf Coast, from Florida to Louisiana.

The storm is expected to affect areas in northern Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Fausto in the eastern Pacific Ocean has strengthened but poses no threat to land.
