IIA Urges UP Govt for Freehold Conversion of Industrial Land
Imagine you own land for your business, but you only 'rent' it from the government.
The IIA, a group helping small businesses, wants the government in Uttar Pradesh to let businesses fully own this land instead.
They want to switch from 'renting' the land (leasehold) to owning it outright (freehold).
This is already allowed in other states.
This would make things easier for businesses because they wouldn't need to ask permission for small changes, like launching a new product.
It could also bring in more money for the state and help businesses grow, like opening more opportunities for investment.
The Indian Industries Association (IIA) is requesting Uttar Pradesh to allow freehold conversion of industrial land.
This request aligns with similar policies in states like Haryana and Karnataka.
The current policy only allows freehold conversion for industrial plots of one hectare or more.
IIA believes this change would benefit MSMEs and generate more revenue for the government.
Freehold conversion could reduce administrative hurdles and attract investment.
