State-level agri governance innovations yield positive outcomes
The Economic Survey highlighted that several Indian states have introduced new ways to manage agriculture, leading to better results for farmers.
These changes include using drones to create digital land titles in Andhra Pradesh, developing lands for fish farming in Bihar, and creating digital platforms for selling crops in Madhya Pradesh.
Other states have focused on improving water management and using technology to help farmers.
For example, Karnataka has a platform that keeps track of farmers and their crops, while Jharkhand is using maps to plan farming based on climate.
These efforts have helped resolve land disputes, increase irrigation, and make farming more efficient.
Andhra Pradesh's drone-based land resurvey resolved 86,000 boundary disputes and covered 6,901 villages.
Bihar's aquaculture initiative developed 1,933 hectares of land across 22 districts.
Madhya Pradesh's digital platform facilitated over 1.03 lakh transactions for direct MSP-based purchases.
Assam's irrigation plan increased gross irrigated area to 24.28% of agricultural land by 2024-25.
Karnataka's FRUITS platform supports 55 lakh farmers with DBT, MSP procurement, and crop surveys.
