Mumbai Woman Alleges Triple Talaq Amidst Abuse by Husband and In-laws
A young woman in Mumbai got married, but after a few months, her husband and his family started treating her badly.
They were sometimes mean, didn't feed her on time, and made her do too many chores, even when she was sick and had a new baby.
When she told her family about it, her husband got angry and told her she was divorced three times in one go, which is called triple talaq.
This is against the law.
The police are now investigating her complaint against her husband and his family.
A 25-year-old woman in Govandi, Mumbai, has alleged mental and physical abuse by her husband and his family.
She claims her husband, Mohammad Fayyaz Siddiqui, pronounced triple talaq after she disclosed the abuse to her parental home.
The woman reported mistreatment starting around April 2024, including denial of food and threats.
Following the birth of their child in June 2025, she experienced further harassment and alleged physical assault.
Police have registered a case against the husband and his family under relevant laws, including the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act.
