Chhari Mubarak taken to Pahalgam for Amarnath rituals
The Chhari Mubarak, a sacred silver mace of Lord Shiva, was taken from its home in Dashnami Akshara to Pahalgam in Anantnag district for important rituals.
A group of sadhus, led by Mahant Deependra Giri, carried the mace while chanting Vedic hymns.
They went to the Gauri Shankar Temple in Pahalgam for a special ceremony called bhoomi pujan.
On their way back, the mace will stop at the Martand Temple in Mattan for a holy bath.
This year, over 4.44 lakh people have gone on the Amarnath Yatra, which started on July 3 and will end on August 28, the same day as Raksha Bandhan.
