Ranveer Singh Faces FIR for Mocking Daiva Tradition
Actor Ranveer Singh is in trouble for making fun of a sacred Hindu tradition called Chavundi Daiva.
This happened during a big movie event in Goa.
He was praising another actor, Rishab Shetty, for a scene in the movie 'Kantara: Chapter 1', but some people thought he was being disrespectful.
They said he called the deity a 'ghost' and hurt religious feelings.
A complaint was filed against him in Bengaluru, and the police have registered a case.
Ranveer said he was sorry and that he didn't mean to offend anyone.
The next court hearing is on April 8, 2026.
An FIR has been registered against Ranveer Singh for allegedly insulting the Chavundi Daiva tradition during the IFFI closing ceremony in Goa.
The complaint was filed by Prashanth Methal, a Bengaluru-based advocate, under Sections 196, 299, and 302 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The incident involved Ranveer Singh allegedly making derogatory remarks and performing a mocking act that demeaned the Daiva tradition.
The complainant claims that Ranveer referred to the sacred Chavundi Daiva as a 'female ghost', which hurt religious sentiments.
The matter has been referred to the 1st Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court in Bengaluru, with the next hearing scheduled for April 8, 2026.
