Dashavatar Enters Oscars Contention List

A Marathi film called Dashavatar has made history by becoming the first Marathi movie to be included in the list of films that could win an Oscar.

The film's director, Subodh Khanolkar, and the production companies, Zee Studios, Ocean Film Company, and Ocean Art House Production, are very excited about this achievement.

Dashavatar is one of about 150 films selected from thousands submitted worldwide.

The film stars Dilip Prabhavalkar and other well-known actors.

It was released in theaters on 12 September 2025.

This is a big deal because it shows that Marathi storytelling can reach an international audience and be recognized on a global platform like the Oscars.

The film's selection is different from India's official entry, Homebound, which is in the Best International Feature Film category.

Dashavatar was submitted independently for consideration in general categories.
