Congress and VBA ally for BMC elections
The Congress party and the Vanchit Bahujan Aaghadi (VBA) have decided to work together for the upcoming Mumbai city elections.
The VBA will contest 62 out of 227 seats.
Both parties have a common goal of protecting the constitution and want to win more votes.
They had worked together before in 1999 and won many seats.
The Congress hopes to get more support from Dalit voters, and the VBA wants to be more involved in city politics.
Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena and BJP are also discussing how to share seats for the same elections.
The NCP, led by Ajit Pawar, has announced its first list of 37 candidates for the BMC polls, and the AAP has announced 51 candidates so far.
The elections are scheduled for January 15, with the last date for filing nominations being December 30.
Congress and VBA have formed an alliance for the BMC elections, with VBA contesting 62 seats.
Both parties aim to safeguard constitutional values and consolidate their voter base.
Congress hopes to strengthen its Dalit votebank, while VBA seeks entry into urban local bodies.
The alliance marks a renewal of their previous successful collaboration before 1999.
