Delhi HC Restrains Rupa's Constitution Book
The Delhi High Court has stopped Rupa Publications from selling their red-and-black small version of the Indian Constitution for now.
Another company, Eastern Book Company (EBC), complained that Rupa's book looked too similar to theirs.
The court agreed, saying Rupa copied their design, layout, color scheme, font, gilt edging, and detailing.
Because the products are alike, the court ruled Rupa must not sell their book to avoid confusing customers.
This temporary ruling protects EBC's version of the book.
Delhi High Court issued an interim injunction against Rupa Publications.
The injunction prohibits Rupa from publishing or selling its red-and-black coat-pocket edition.
The court found Rupa's design 'deceptively similar' to Eastern Book Company's.
Eastern Book Company filed the suit.
