UK to Impose International Student Levy from 2028

UK to Impose International Student Levy from 2028

The UK government plans to introduce a new fee called the international student levy starting in 2028.

This fee will be £925 per year for each international student at universities.

The first 220 students at each university won't be charged this fee.

The government thinks universities will pass this cost to students, making education more expensive.

However, they believe not many students will stop coming because the demand is high.

Currently, international students pay between £11,400 and £38,000 for undergraduate studies and £9,000 to £30,000 for postgraduate studies.

Living costs are higher in London than in other parts of the UK.

Students need to show they have enough money to cover their studies and living costs when applying for a visa.
