Tribal Farmers March to Mumbai

Tribal Farmers March to Mumbai

Thousands of tribal farmers and farm labourers from Nashik district are marching to Mumbai to demand action on several important issues.

They want their names included in the 7/12 land records for land rights, implementation of the Forest Rights Act, irrigation facilities, loan waivers, and 365 days of work under MNREGA instead of 200 days.

They also want better roads, water, electricity, education, and health facilities in tribal areas, action against police atrocities, and implementation of tap water schemes.

The march is led by former MLA Comrade J.P. Gavit and is supported by the Kisan Sabha and the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

The protesters are walking from Nashik to Mumbai, carrying red flags and banners, and plan to stage a sit-in protest in front of the Mantralaya (State Secretariat).

The march has created a unique atmosphere in Nashik and is receiving support from local activists and organisations.

The tribal community is fighting for justice, and there is an expectation that the government will address their demands soon.
