Modi and Putin Set Bilateral Talks Ahead of BRICS Summit

Narendra Modi and Vladimir Putin are expected to meet in New Delhi before the BRICS Summit.

Their meeting is planned for September 11, 2026.

They will discuss how India and Russia can work together on trade and business.

Defence cooperation, including possible fighter aircraft plans, may also be discussed.

They are expected to review cooperation on nuclear power.

The leaders may also talk about using national currencies for payments between BRICS countries.

Russia says this helps countries continue trade when sanctions affect access to other currencies.

The BRICS Summit will be held on September 12 and 13.

India wants the summit to focus on resilience, new technology, cooperation, and sustainability.
