Most Toys in India Meet Quality Standards, BIS Finds
Imagine the government wants to make sure toys are safe.
They have a group called BIS that checks toys.
Since 2021, they've tested lots of toys and found that most of them are good and safe to play with!
They make sure toys meet certain rules to keep kids safe.
If toys don't meet the rules, the makers can get in trouble and have to pay fines.
BIS checks stores and online shops to find and stop unsafe toys from being sold.
BIS found 91% of tested toys compliant with quality norms since 2021.
The Toy (Quality Control) Order, implemented in January 2021, mandates quality standards.
17,860 toy samples have been tested, with 16,240 found compliant.

Penalties for non-compliance range from ₹1 lakh to ₹2 lakh.
