Narayanpur Land Acquisition Row Escalates Over Village Acquisition
In a village called Narayanpur, there is a big water reservoir that helps water many farms.
The government wanted to buy only 34 houses to make the reservoir stronger, but the village has about 150 houses.
People whose homes would not be bought were upset and wanted the government to buy the whole village and pay everyone.
They stopped officials from coming to measure the houses.
Some people who were going to have their homes bought got into a fight with the protesters.
The husband of the village leader, Babalaxmi, got very upset after an argument and tried to hurt himself.
The police then made a case against 13 people after the village leader complained.
