Sri Lankan Man Arrested for Fraud in Bengaluru
A man from Sri Lanka named Kandiah Rajagopal was arrested at an airport in Bengaluru, India.
He is accused of letting another person use his plane ticket and visa to fly to London.
The airport staff noticed something suspicious and found out that someone else had used Rajagopal's boarding pass to go to London.
The police are now trying to figure out who the other person was and how they managed to get away with it.
They are also checking if there are more people involved in this kind of fraud.
Rajagopal tried to book another ticket for himself after the fraud was discovered, but the authorities had already been alerted.
The police have started an investigation to understand what happened and why.
Kandiah Rajagopal, a Sri Lankan passenger, was arrested at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport for allegedly allowing another person to travel to London using his boarding pass and UK visa.
Airport authorities detected the fraud when they noticed suspicious activities near the international departures' security hold area.
Virgin Atlantic confirmed that another person had traveled to London on flight VS-347 using a boarding pass issued in Rajagopal's name.
Investigators are examining the involvement of Sharushan Kunasekaran, another Sri Lankan, who was supposed to travel to Singapore but did not board his flight.
The probe focuses on how the second passenger bypassed checks, whether procedural lapses were exploited, and if any broader network is involved in such fraud.
