Municipal Elections in Maharashtra Face EVM Glitches
On January 15th, people in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and Nashik will vote to choose their local leaders, while Mumbai will vote on January 16th.
To vote, you need to show a valid ID proof.
You can use many types of IDs, not just a voter ID card.
The voting happens from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
In Mumbai, there are 227 seats to fill, and over 1 crore people can vote.
In Nashik, 13.60 lakh voters will exercise their right to vote.
It takes about 2-3 minutes to vote.
If you have any problems, you can talk to the people in charge at the polling station.
Remember, no phones or campaign materials are allowed inside the polling booth.
In Pune, the metro will run from 5 AM to 12 AM on the 15th to help people get to the polling stations.
However, there have been some problems with the voting machines not working properly in some places.
This has caused delays and confusion for some voters.
Officials are working to fix these issues so that everyone can vote smoothly.
Voting in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and Nashik took place on 15th January, while Mumbai voted on 16th January.
Voters in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad reported EVM malfunctions, including incorrect times and unresponsive buttons.
In Mumbai, voting was briefly disrupted at Dadar's Balmohan Vidyamandir polling station due to a technical glitch in an EVM.
Voters in Pune questioned the transparency of the election process as VVPAT machines were missing in Ward No. 9.
A BJP worker in Pimpri-Chinchwad sparked controversy by sharing a photo of himself voting inside the booth, violating the no-mobile-phone rule.
