Urban Company Q1 FY27: Rapid Growth, Net Loss, InstaHelp Push
Urban Company is a home‑services company that helps people hire workers for things like cleaning and repairs.
In the first quarter of its 2027 financial year, the company earned more money than it did a year ago, with revenue jumping 44% to ₹528 crore.
However, it still lost ₹92 crore because it spent a lot on a new service called InstaHelp and on tax costs.
The main part of the business, which serves customers in India, grew 31% and made a small profit margin of 6.9% of sales.
InstaHelp, the on‑demand housekeeping service, made less money and lost more money as it tried to grow fast.
The company said it will keep investing in InstaHelp but hopes to break even on overall earnings by the third quarter of FY28.
It also plans to reach ₹1,000 crore in profit by FY31.
The company added more than 1.2 million new users in the quarter, the first time it added that many in a single quarter.
Overall, the company is growing fast but still needs to manage costs to become profitable.
Revenue rose 44% YoY to ₹528.3 crore, NTV up 42% to ₹1,465 crore.
Net loss widened to ₹92.1 crore, driven by ₹8.4 crore deferred tax expense and InstaHelp losses.
Core India consumer services grew 31% YoY, adjusted EBITDA margin hit 6.9% of NTV.
InstaHelp generated ₹53 crore NTV but widened adjusted EBITDA loss to ₹132 crore due to heavy acquisition spend.
Company targets consolidated adjusted EBITDA breakeven by Q3 FY28 and aims ₹1,000 crore by FY31.
