Pradhan Urges Odisha CM to Reconstitute Backward Classes Commission
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan wrote a letter to Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
He asked the Chief Minister to quickly restart the Odisha State Commission for Backward Classes (OSCBC).
This commission helps 216 groups of people who are socially and educationally behind.
The commission stopped working on January 3, 2024, because its term ended.
Without this commission, these groups can't easily get help or benefits.
The commission also looks at requests to include more groups and gives advice to the government.
Pradhan hopes the Chief Minister will act fast to help these communities.

Odisha has 216 SEBC communities that face challenges in accessing benefits and opportunities without a functioning commission.
The OSCBC plays a crucial role in examining requests for inclusion in the SEBC list, addressing grievances, and advising the government on policy matters.
Pradhan highlighted the importance of the commission's role in conducting surveys on the social and educational conditions of backward class communities as per the Odisha State Commission for Backward Classes (Amendment) Act, 2020.
