Reliance Acquires Majority Stake in Udhaiyam
Reliance Consumer Products, part of Reliance Industries, has bought a big part of a company called Udhaiyam Agro Foods.
Udhaiyam is known for selling rice, pulses, spices, snacks, and idli batter in Tamil Nadu.
The people who started Udhaiyam will still own a small part of the company and will continue to work there.
Reliance wants to make Udhaiyam's products available to more people across India.
They believe this will help them offer good quality products at affordable prices.
Udhaiyam has been around for over 30 years and makes over ₹600 crore in revenue.
This is part of Reliance's plan to buy well-known brands and make them available all over India.

The acquisition aligns with RCPL's goal to expand its presence in the branded staples segment and offer global-quality products at affordable prices nationwide.
Udhaiyam's promoters, S. Sudhakar and S. Dinakar, will retain a minority stake and continue to be involved in the business.
Udhaiyam reportedly had revenue of over ₹600 crore in FY24.
