Punjab Creates Separate Cadre for BBMB Employees Amidst Tensions
Imagine a special club, the BBMB, that helps manage water and power for many states.
Usually, workers for this club were borrowed from different states, like Punjab.
But sometimes, these workers would go back to their home state, leaving the club short-handed.
So, Punjab has decided to create its own team of workers just for this club.
This means new people will be hired specifically to work only for the BBMB.
Punjab believes this will help the BBMB function better.
The state has also approved many new job openings for this special team.
This decision comes as Punjab and the BBMB have had disagreements recently.
Punjab is also hiring many nurses and filling other important government jobs.
Punjab Cabinet approved creating a separate cadre for Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) employees.
A total of 2,458 posts are to be created for recruitment within this new BBMB cadre.
The decision aims to ensure employees exclusively serve the BBMB, preventing their return to Punjab's general cadre.
This move occurs amidst recent tensions between Punjab and BBMB over issues like water sharing and BBMB membership.
The Cabinet also approved recruitment of 311 nurses and other administrative posts.
