MP Cities Lag in Affordable Housing Drive
Madhya Pradesh is building houses for poor families through a government program called PMAY-U.
Some cities like Chhindwara and Ratlam have finished all their houses, but bigger cities like Jabalpur, Bhopal, and Indore are behind.
Jabalpur is the slowest, with only a few houses built.
The government gives money to help build these houses, but many people haven't signed up to get them.
Another part of the program where people build their own houses is doing much better, with almost all houses finished.
Jabalpur is the slowest among 14 cities in Madhya Pradesh for completing affordable housing under PMAY-U, with only 12–13% completion.
Bhopal has completed 4,004 of 6,881 sanctioned houses, leaving nearly 2,900 under construction.
Indore has completed just over 1,000 of 1,628 houses and has over 2,000 pending handover.
Smaller cities like Chhindwara, Singrauli, Satna, Khandwa, Gwalior, and Ratlam have achieved 100% completion.
The Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC) vertical has a 94.38% completion rate, outperforming the Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) component.
