Thane Patient Receives Complex Bentall Surgery for Marfan-Related Heart Damage

Thane Patient Receives Complex Bentall Surgery for Marfan-Related Heart Damage

A 39-year-old man had Marfan syndrome, which can weaken important body tissues.

The main blood vessel near his heart had become very enlarged.

His heart valve was also leaking badly, allowing blood to flow backward.

Doctors at KIMS Hospitals in Thane performed a Bentall procedure.

This surgery replaced the enlarged blood-vessel section and the damaged valve.

The doctors then reconnected the heart’s blood vessels to the new graft.

The patient recovered well and left the hospital five days after surgery.

Doctors said people with Marfan syndrome should have regular heart and aorta check-ups.
