Film Heritage Foundation to Restore More Satyajit Ray Classics
A special group called the Film Heritage Foundation is working to save old movies made by a famous director named Satyajit Ray.
They just showed a restored version of his movie 'Aranyer Din Ratri' in India for the first time.
This movie is about friends going on a trip.
The foundation also said they will fix two more of his movies, 'Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne' and 'Pratidwandi', which are about a king and a detective.
They believe it's important to keep the original look of the films, even the grainy parts, because it's like the movie's special code.
Even actors from the old movies think it's great that these films are being saved so new people can see them.
The Film Heritage Foundation announced plans to restore Satyajit Ray's 'Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne' and 'Pratidwandi'.
This follows the first India screening of the restored version of Ray's 'Aranyer Din Ratri' in Kolkata.
The restoration efforts are done in collaboration with The Film Foundation of Martin Scorsese.
FHF founder-director Shivendra Singh Dungarpur emphasized preserving the original essence, stating, 'The grains are the DNA of cinema'.
Sharmila Tagore, an actress from 'Aranyer Din Ratri', sent a message recalling the 'magical time' shooting the film and its contemporary relevance after 55 years.
