Parties Protest PPP Policy on Medical Colleges
In Vijayawada, leaders from different political parties like TDP, YSRCP, and CPI had a protest on a Wednesday.
They used the Bhogi bonfires during the Sankranti celebrations to burn copies of government orders related to a new policy for medical colleges.
This policy allows private companies to help run medical colleges, and the leaders think it will make it harder for students from poorer backgrounds to get medical education.
They also burned special passbooks given to farmers with the picture of a former chief minister to show they were upset with the previous government's policies.
The protest was a way to show their disagreement with these policies.
