NSE Sees Dip in Individual Investor Participation in August
In August, fewer individual investors were actively trading on the NSE compared to previous months.
Both cash and derivatives trading saw a decrease in participation, possibly due to new rules and changes in the market.
Although new registrations declined, the overall number of investors on the NSE is still quite large.
Most trading activity comes from a small group of frequent traders.
The data indicates that retail participation in derivatives is lower than some might think.
Individual cash market participation dipped for the first time in five months.
Derivatives trading also declined, following a similar trend.
The number of individual investors trading at least once fell 15.3% MoM.
New registrations eased to 12.3 lakh during August.
A large portion of trading activity is concentrated among a few active investors.
