Maharashtra fast-tracks Bhagwati Port cruise terminal for Konkan tourism

The government of Maharashtra, a state in India, wants to build a big new terminal for cruise ships at Bhagwati Port in Ratnagiri.

A minister named Nitesh Rane said the project will now move faster.

Cruise ships are large passenger ships that take people on holiday trips.

The government hopes the new terminal will bring more tourists to the Konkan coast, which has beautiful beaches and history.

More tourists can mean more jobs for local people.

Workers in hotels, transport, tour services, handicrafts, and fishing could all benefit.

The project has already been approved by the government.

Environmental and other checks are still being completed.

A feasibility study is done, and the detailed project report is almost ready.

The minister also said the project should protect nature and support local communities.
