Thailand’s Deep South Hit by Coordinated Arson and Bomb Attacks

Thailand’s Deep South Hit by Coordinated Arson and Bomb Attacks

Many fires and bomb attacks happened in southern Thailand over the weekend.

Officials counted at least 78 incidents in four provinces, although another report said there were more than 50 attacks in three provinces.

The attacks damaged buildings, shops, vehicles, phone towers, power equipment and a railway.

At least three people were reported injured, but another account said two women were hurt.

Officials placed Narathiwat under a nighttime curfew.

One report said the curfew was lifted on Sunday morning.

No group has said it carried out the attacks.

The area has had a conflict for many years involving rebels seeking more control for the region.

Thailand is also trying to restart peace talks with the main separatist group.
