Tata Trusts to Build New Healthcare and Education Institutions
Noel Tata, the head of the Tata Trusts, said the group will build new hospitals and schools to help people in India.
They already set up 17 cancer care centers in Assam and want to add many more hospitals that treat everyone the same.
They will also start a new college with IIM Bangalore to keep students in India.
Tata wants the Trusts to spend money wisely and measure how well they help people, not just say they helped many.
He says the Trusts should focus on building good institutions, not just making money.
Noel Tata announced a new roadmap for Tata Trusts focused on institutional building in healthcare and education.
The Trusts plan to expand a network of 40‑50 not‑for‑profit general hospitals, building on 17 cancer care centers already set up with Assam.
A partnership with IIM Bangalore will create a world‑class undergraduate school to curb the brain‑drain of Indian talent.
Tata emphasized a shift from profit‑making to purposeful spending, insisting on cross‑subsidy models and uniform quality of care.
He called for greater transparency and metric‑driven evaluation of social impact, rejecting vague “touched lives” claims.
