Shreyas Iyer's Comeback Delayed by Weight Loss
Shreyas Iyer, a star cricket player for India, got hurt in Australia and has been trying to come back.
He lost a lot of weight because of his injury, which has made him weaker.
The team doctors want to make sure he is fully recovered before he plays again.
They have delayed his return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the ODI series against New Zealand.
Two other important players, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya, will not play in these matches so they can rest for a bigger tournament later.
The team wants to make sure everyone is healthy and ready for the important games.
Mohammed Shami, another player, is also being considered to play again if he shows he is fit.
Shreyas Iyer's comeback delayed due to weight loss and muscle mass reduction from a spleen laceration.
Iyer has lost around 6 kg and needs to regain strength to field for 50 overs.
Expected to receive clearance to play on January 9, 2026 for the Vijay Hazare Trophy knockouts.
Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya will be rested for the ODI series against New Zealand.
Mohammed Shami is being considered for the ODI squad and the 2027 World Cup due to his recent good form.
