Govt to boost rubber product exports
The government is taking steps to help Indian rubber products be sold in other countries.
They want to make sure that the rubber comes from places that follow certain rules, especially for countries like those in the European Union.
A minister talked about this at a special event for a training institute in Kerala.
He also said that Kerala, which grows a lot of rubber, needs more factories to make rubber products.
Some people at the event were worried that young people are leaving the country, which might hurt rubber farming.
The training institute has done good work and will keep helping the rubber industry.
Government is taking steps to ensure traceability of domestically produced natural rubber to comply with EU regulations and boost exports.
Union Minister George Kurian inaugurated the silver jubilee celebrations of the National Institute for Rubber Training (NIRT) in Kottayam.
Kerala, a major producer of natural rubber, lags behind in developing rubber-based industries, according to the Minister.
The government is curbing the import of rubber in the form of cup lump, highlighting the increasing area and production of natural rubber in the country.
Chandy Oommen, MLA, expressed concern over the outflow of youth to foreign countries, affecting natural rubber cultivation.
