A Mumbai court has formally charged developer Vijay Machhindar, his wife and their company, Ornate Spaces.

The case concerns a housing project called Grove Tower in Oshiwara.

Prosecutors say the accused collected about Rs 28 crore from buyers and investors starting in 2012.

They allegedly promised flats but did not hand them over or return the money.

The couple is also accused of forging a housing society document to get a loan.

The charges include alleged cheating and violations of laws protecting flat buyers and depositors.

The case was investigated by Mumbai Police.

The accused will now face a trial, where the allegations will be considered.
