Congress MLA Ponnanna Appointed Political Secretary to Karnataka CM

There is a big political party in India called Congress.

In the state of Karnataka, a Congress leader named A S Ponnanna got a new important job.

He will be the Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, D K Shivakumar.

That means he will help the state's top leader with political work and advice.

He was given the same high status as a cabinet minister.

Ponnanna represents a place called Virajpet in the state assembly.

He had wanted to be a cabinet minister and was upset when he did not get that job.

Earlier, his party had chosen him to be the Deputy Speaker of the assembly.

He is a lawyer who used to give legal advice to an earlier Chief Minister named Siddaramaiah.

Now he will start his new job right away.
