India-Israel Joint Venture to Cut Pesticide Use
India and Israel have teamed up to create a new company called Semiophore Ltd.
This company will make and sell special technologies from India that help protect crops without using many chemicals.
These technologies use natural smells called pheromones to keep bugs away from plants.
The goal is to reduce the use of harmful pesticides by a huge amount, more than 80%.
This is a big deal because it means farmers can grow food in a way that's better for the environment.
The two countries have been working together on farming and technology for a long time, and this new partnership is a big step forward.
They announced this plan at a big meeting in New Delhi where people from many countries talked about how to make farming more sustainable.
The new company will invest $10 million to build infrastructure in both India and Israel.
India and Israel launched Semiophore Ltd., a joint venture to manufacture and commercialize Indian pheromone-based crop protection technologies.
The agreement was signed at the First International Science & Technology Clusters Conference in New Delhi.
The venture aims to reduce global pesticide use by more than 80% with 18 Indian-developed technologies.
Semiophore Ltd. will target international markets including Israel, Brazil, Australia, Africa, and the United States.
The partnership combines the strengths of both countries in sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural solutions, with a $10 million investment.
