Noida Workers Face Debt and Fear After Bail in Protests

Noida Workers Face Debt and Fear After Bail in Protests

Several workers in Noida were arrested after labour protests in April.

They were accused of serious crimes, but courts later granted them bail.

The workers and their families said they had not taken part in the protests.

Some workers said they were arrested while looking for work, leaving home or buying food.

Their families borrowed large amounts of money to pay for legal help and travel.

One family spent nearly Rs 50,000 visiting a jailed worker.

Another spent almost Rs 3 lakh for two young men.

After returning home, some workers were still afraid that police might arrest them again.

Their families also said the arrests caused worry, lost work and sleepless nights.
