DDA Revises Flat Alteration Policy After 16 Years
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has updated its rules for making changes to DDA flats for the first time in almost 20 years.
Now, homeowners can make small changes like adding sunshades or ramps without asking for permission.
Bigger changes, like adding new rooms or changing plumbing, still need approval.
The DDA will review these requests online and decide within 30 days.
Homeowners have three years to complete the work once approved.
This new policy makes it easier for people to improve their homes while keeping buildings safe and following the rules.
DDA revised its policy on alterations in flats for the first time since 2007, effective July 1, 2024.
Minor alterations like sunshades, ramps, and EV charging points no longer require prior permission.
Structural modifications and changes to essential services still need prior approval or intimation.
Owners of upper-floor flats in low-rise buildings can now construct permanent structures over courtyards or terraces with prior approval.
Applications for approval must be submitted online, with decisions communicated within 30 days, and work must be completed within three years.
