India's Auto and EV Sales Surge in October Fueled by Deepavali and GST Bachat Utsav
Imagine car and bike companies in India had a super busy and exciting October!
People were really eager to buy new vehicles because of the big Deepavali festival and a special sale called GST Bachat Utsav.
This excitement, along with more trucks carrying goods and people buying lots of electric bikes and cars, made October a record-breaking month for selling vehicles.
Even though truck rentals went up a bit because of more deliveries and some restrictions, overall, sales for almost every type of vehicle, from small auto-rickshaws to big trucks and fast-selling electric bikes, shot up a lot.
Experts say this is great, but sales might slow down a little in the next few weeks after all the festival shopping.
India's automotive and EV sales saw a significant rebound in October, driven by festive demand and the GST Bachat Utsav.
Vehicle retail sales across most categories experienced strong month-on-month growth, with goods carriers surging 58% MoM.
Two-wheeler sales soared 144% MoM and 52% YoY, while passenger car sales increased 83% MoM and 11% YoY.
Electric vehicle (EV) sales reached record highs, with E-2 wheelers up 40% MoM and E-3 wheelers up 16% MoM.
Truck rentals remained firm, with the Delhi-Mumbai corridor showing a 1.9% month-on-month increase, supported by freight demand and fleet availability constraints.
