Kerala Government Orders Probe Into CMRL Case, CPI(M) Objects

The Kerala government has ordered a police inquiry into allegations mentioned in an Enforcement Directorate report.

The report concerns former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, his daughter Veena T and his son-in-law P A Mohamed Riyas.

The ED asked police to consider registering a corruption case.

The government said it acted after receiving legal advice from the Advocate General.

CPI(M) leader M A Baby criticised the decision.

He said central agencies have been used against opposition parties and leaders.

Riyas said he had done nothing wrong.

He also said he would continue to challenge what he called fake news.

The inquiry will examine the allegations, but the reports do not establish that the people named committed wrongdoing.
