Gujarat Eases Liquor Rules at GIFT City
Gujarat is a state where alcohol is usually not allowed.
But in a special area called GIFT City, the government has made some changes.
Now, people who are not from Gujarat or are from other countries can drink alcohol in certain hotels and restaurants.
They just need to show their photo ID card.
Before, they needed a special permit, but now they don't.
They can also drink in places like lawns, poolside, and terraces.
Employees who have a special permit can bring up to 25 visitors to drink with them.
This makes it easier for people to enjoy alcohol in GIFT City.
Gujarat government has eased liquor consumption rules at GIFT City, removing the need for temporary permits for external visitors.
Visitors from outside Gujarat or foreign nationals can now consume liquor by showing a valid photo ID card.
Liquor consumption is now allowed in additional areas such as lawns, poolside, and terraces, in addition to designated wine and dine areas.
GIFT City employees with Liquor Access Permit can host up to 25 visitors at a time, who will receive temporary permits.
The changes were announced through a gazette notification by the state home department on December 20, 2023.
