Bagh Prepares 50 Lakh Clay Lamps As Diwali Demand Rises
Families in Bagh are making many clay lamps for Diwali.
More than 50 lakh lamps are ready.
The lamps are being made at over 40 places in the city.
The same families are also making urns for Karva Chauth.
Some young potters received loans and electronic wheels through a government scheme.
These tools make their work easier than using an old wooden wheel.
However, clay and transportation have become more expensive.
Clear weather is helping the lamps dry before they are baked, and the lamps are being sent to nearby districts.
More than 50 lakh clay lamps have been prepared in Bagh for the upcoming Diwali season.
Families from the Kumbhar community are making lamps and Karva Chauth urns at over 40 locations.
More than 20 young people received Rs 1 lakh loans and electronic wheels through the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana.
Bagh’s lamps are being sent to Mandsaur and Neemuch, while Karva Chauth urns are also in demand outside the district.
Higher clay, production and transportation costs are affecting families, although clear weather has accelerated drying and furnace-baking work.
