Agartala Builds Sewage Treatment Plants to Clean Water
Agartala is building five new sewage treatment plants to clean up its water.
These plants will treat wastewater before it goes into rivers and streams.
The first three plants are almost finished.
Two more are planned in the southern part of the city.
They will also lay a 4 km pipeline to send sewage to the new plants.
The goal is to stop releasing untreated wastewater into the Haora River, Kalapaniakhal, and Katakhal.
A treatment plant near the border with Bangladesh was inaugurated earlier this year, which ensures only treated water is released into Bangladesh territory.
Agartala is constructing five sewage treatment plants.
The projects are initiated following NGT directives.
Three plants are nearing completion: in Abhoynagar, Ranjit Nagar, and Ramnagar.
ASCL approved laying a 4 km pipeline.
The goal is to prevent untreated sewage from entering local water bodies.
