J&K Unspent Funds for Border Bunkers Despite Shelling
The government gave money to Jammu and Kashmir to build bunkers for people living near the border to protect them from shelling.
However, almost half of the money has not been used.
This was found out through a Right to Information request.
While some areas used more money than others, a lot of the money is still unspent.
This news comes after recent shelling, which made people want more safety measures, like building individual bunkers for each family.
J&K administration has left unspent nearly half of the central funds allocated for border bunkers.
Rs 242.77 crore was allocated between 2020-21 and 2024-25, with 46.58% remaining unspent.
Rajouri district had the highest fund utilization.
The funds were intended for constructing bunkers for residents facing shelling along the LoC and IB.
Recent cross-border shelling has led to calls for increased safety measures, including individual bunkers.
