Why Your Vacuum Cleaner Smells Bad After Cleaning

Why Your Vacuum Cleaner Smells Bad After Cleaning

A vacuum can smell bad when dirt or moisture gets trapped inside it.

The filter may be dirty or still damp after washing.

Dust, hair, food crumbs, and pet debris can also hide in the bin, brush, hose, or attachments.

A regular dry vacuum should not pick up water.

Wet-and-dry vacuums still need to be emptied and dried after handling liquids.

Empty the dust bin and remove visible hair after using the vacuum.

Clean filters and other parts only as the instructions allow.

Let washable parts dry fully before putting them back.

If the smell is burning or comes with overheating or strange noises, stop using the vacuum.
