Karnataka Minister Proposes 0.8 TMC Reservoir Near Babanagar
A government leader in Vijayapura wants to build a new water storage place, called a reservoir, that can hold a lot of water.
This is so they can use all the water that belongs to their area from a big irrigation project.
Right now, they aren't using all the water they get, especially after some channels are finished.
The new reservoir will help store extra water from the rainy times to use when it's dry, helping farms and filling up small water spots.
They found a good spot with lots of government land, so they don't need to buy extra.
They already talked to the state's top leaders, and hope to build it soon.
Karnataka Minister MB Patil announced a proposed 0.8 TMC water reservoir near Babanagar.
The reservoir aims to optimize the use of Vijayapura's share of water from the Tubachi–Babaleshwar irrigation project.
Approximately 500 acres of government land is available near the proposed site, negating land acquisition needs.
The project is expected to be included in the next State Budget, following discussions with the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.
The reservoir will store water during the monsoon for use in summer for irrigation and to replenish local water bodies.
