ICICI Prudential MF Files SIF Plans with SEBI
ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund has asked SEBI for permission to start a new type of investment fund called a Specialised Investment Fund (SIF).
This fund is for people who want to invest a lot of money, at least ₹10 lakh.
The fund will mostly invest in medium and small-sized companies, with some money also going into large companies.
It can also use special tools to protect investments or bet against the market.
Another fund they want to start mixes investments in stocks and bonds, with some flexibility to adjust based on market conditions.
These funds are a step between regular mutual funds and more complex investment options, giving managers more freedom to choose investments.
ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund filed draft papers with SEBI to launch its Specialised Investment Fund (SIF) platform under the iSIF brand.
The proposed iSIF Equity Ex-Top 100 Long-Short Fund will focus on mid-cap and small-cap stocks, with limited short positions through derivatives.
The fund will invest 65% in midcaps and small caps, with the remaining balance in large-caps.
ICICI Prudential also filed documents for a hybrid long-short fund, combining equity and debt exposure with limited short positions in both asset classes.
SIFs are designed for affluent investors with a minimum investment of ₹10 lakh and offer fund managers greater flexibility in portfolio construction.
