Blocked Nose, Watery Eyes: Tips for Temporary Relief

Blocked Nose, Watery Eyes: Tips for Temporary Relief

A cold or flu can make the inside of your nose swollen and filled with extra mucus.

This can make it hard to breathe through your nose.

Swelling near the nose can also stop tears from draining normally, so your eyes may water.

Warm, moist air from a shower may help your nose feel less blocked.

Saline nose drops, drinking fluids and resting can also make you more comfortable.

A warm cloth on your face may ease pressure.

Sleeping with your head slightly raised can make breathing easier.

Avoid smoke and strong smells because they can irritate your nose and eyes.

Ask a doctor for help if your symptoms are severe, last too long or get worse.
