Assam Police First in Northeast with Offline Aadhaar Verification
Assam Police is now the first in the Northeast to use a special system called Aadhaar verification without needing the internet.
This means they can check if someone's Aadhaar card is real by scanning a QR code, even in places where the internet is slow or not available.
The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, shared this news on a social media platform called X. This system helps the police catch criminals or people who might be using fake Aadhaar cards.
It also makes it easier and faster for the police to do things like checking tenants, giving character certificates, and issuing passports and arms licenses.
There are now 158 organizations in India that use this system, including other police forces.
Assam Police is the first in Northeast India to get offline Aadhaar verification.
They are registered as an Offline Verification Seeking Entity (OVSE).
The system allows verification via QR code scanning without internet.
