Supreme Court Seeks Response on Probe Into Cockroach Janta Party

Supreme Court Seeks Response on Probe Into Cockroach Janta Party

In India, the highest court is the Supreme Court, and it is in New Delhi.

A lawyer named Raja Choudhary told the court that some people were misusing a word a judge said.

During a hearing in May, the Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant, called some problem lawyers "cockroaches."

Some people took clips of that court hearing, edited them, and turned them into funny videos and memes to make money.

The court thinks this may be disrespectful to the judges and to the law.

So the court asked the government, the CBI, and the lawyers' council to look into what happened.

The court also said that fair criticism and jokes are okay, but using court words to earn money may not be.

Some of the memes were part of a youth protest about an exam paper leak called NEET-UG.

Now the government and other groups must give the court their answers, and the court will decide what to do next.
