NBMCH to Require Aadhaar for Digital Health IDs
North Bengal Medical College and Hospital plans to give patients digital health IDs.
At first, people admitted to hospital wards will need to provide Aadhaar details.
The hospital will use those details to create an ABHA ID.
Patients can bring their Aadhaar card or use the mobile number linked to it.
The ID is meant to connect a patient’s medical records in one place.
This could help doctors and staff deliver test reports to the right person.
It may also help patients use government-funded healthcare services.
The hospital plans to extend the requirement to outpatient patients later.
North Bengal Medical College and Hospital will soon require Aadhaar details from admitted patients.
The hospital will use Aadhaar information to create Ayushman Bharat Health Account IDs.
The requirement will initially apply to ward admissions and later extend to outpatient visitors.
Officials say ABHA IDs will improve patient identification, record-keeping, report delivery and treatment continuity.
NBMCH handles around 5,000 outpatient patients daily, increasing the need for systematic records.
