India Launches 13th Round of Coal Mine Auctions
The Indian government is holding another auction to allow companies to mine coal.
This round offers 14 blocks, primarily in several states.
The goal is to increase how much coal India produces and decrease the need to buy coal from other countries.
The government has already seen success with previous auctions, attracting investment and creating jobs.
They are also finalizing agreements for mines sold earlier and planning for a new coal exchange, as approved by Parliament.
Ministry of Coal offered 14 blocks for commercial mining.
Mines are located in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Jharkhand.
Auction aims to boost domestic production and reduce coal imports.
CMDPA were signed for 11 mines allocated in earlier auctions.
The Mines and Minerals Amendment Bill, 2025, paves way for a coal exchange.
